Alan, Jake, and Kimberley, please take a look at the link below regarding factors that reduce home prices. The number one factor cited is bad schools. Most home buyers are shopping online to narrow down homes to visit, using such sites as Zillow. Zillow has the primary and middle school here rated 3 (RED) out of 10. The high school is rated 5 out of 10. Are the schools aware of this? I would guess people with kids aren't going to want to move to an area with low rated schools, especially at Windcrest size and price levels. Those without kids don't need a big house, leaving a small subsection of the potential homebuyers interested in a larger home.

Another home buyer factor used on Zillow's website is called the Walkability Score. My address on (Redacted) has a Score of 8 out of 100, meaning they consider that a car is needed to go anywhere. Part of the reason for the low score is that none of our three parks is listed or shown on Google Maps, nor is the Via bus station. Perhaps someone can get google to update its Windcrest map?

Yes, bad schools are bad for our city. It's why I warned my neighbors & friends to vote against the last NEISD bond issue. Doubling the population of the elementary was a very bad idea & as a result, Windcrest Elementary has plummeted from an exemplary school to merely acceptable because the new population has come from undesirable neighborhoods outside of our city. We have more traffic coming into our neighborhood during school hours as a result of those parents bringing their children from outside Windcrest to the school. The school will NEVER be just students who reside in Windcrest.

However, our neighborhood is a great draw for homeschooling families. We already have a few home-school families here. A lot of military families home-school. Maybe your realtor can promote your beautiful home to those families. Best of luck!
