Thank you, Pam Dodson!

Thanks to the uninformed voter, our city lost a council member who was receptive to citizens & knew our city needs. Don’t believe me? Here’s just a short list of her many accomplishments.

Pam researched special districts allowed by state law & proposed the Windcrest Crime Control & Prevention District. The voters liked her idea to collect a ¼ cent sales tax to provide extra equipment our police officers need, above & beyond what our city budget provides. Extra measures of safety for our officers while providing extra protection for our citizens. Projected fiscal year 2016-17 revenue for the WCCPD is nearly $700,000!! Thank you, Pam Dodson for helping our police officers & our citizens!!

She’s also a good steward of the taxpayer’s money. When a former mayor decided that the city needed a new $4 million, 2 story city hall, she organized citizens to stop the huge debt our city was going to suffer.

Pam believes in the rule of law. When it was apparent that our Home Rule Charter needed amending, she organized the first Charter Review Citizens Committee in 2010. She then organized citizens to petition for the changes to be put on the ballot for the voters to decide. All of the proposed amendments passed.

Our charter requires annual review of a number of policies. Every year when Pam put the policies on the agenda, the same members who were recently returned to council belittled her & blocked any meaningful discussion. Council member Shelton called it micro-managing despite our charter requiring council to do the reviews,

Our city post office collects approximately $65,000 in revenue each year. It was Pam’s idea to have dedicated post office parking spaces to facilitate easy access for citizens.

Do you enjoy the convenience of dropping off your city payments via your car in the city’s dropbox at city hall? Yep, also Pam’s idea.

Pam saw the problem of stray dogs & cats in our city & formed the non-profit group, TXWeACT, which assists Windcrest Animal Control with capturing animals & finding homes for them. A great group of folks was brought together for our city’s common good thanks to Pam!

Pam is also on Citizens Patrol, which gives our police officers another set of eyes to spot crime in our city.

Have you seen the patio improvements in front of city hall for employees to take breaks & for citizens to socialize & utilize the city’s wi-fi? It was Pam’s idea, but it hasn’t been completed yet because the mayor’s interference in the original project greatly increased the cost of the project & money to finish it isn’t in the 2016-17 budget.

Have you noticed the ‘Employee of the Month’ parking space at city hall? Yep, this was Pam’s idea to provide positive recognition for our hard-working employees.

Pam listens to the citizens. When a citizen asked about a program to keep prescription drugs out of our water supply, Pam found the Drug Take-back program & organized our first one this past October. It was very successful & as a citizen, she plans to continue it annually

Two of Pam’s sons served as firefighters for the Windcrest Volunteer Fire Department before they began their service in the Army. Pam’s husband & another son were also in the Army. Theirs is a family of service.

Thank you Pam Dodson for everything you have done in service of our fair city!! Many of us hope you will run for council again!!
