Sunshine & Lollipops

Have y'all seen the propaganda being spread via our tax dollars? There are huge banners at some of our parks mentioning the mayor's name, but not the council's, tooting his horn about park improvements. Where were the improvements this year? Our Parks & Recreation Commission didn't have access to any of the FY 2014-15 budgeted money for the parks. View the meeting videos on the city website. Many members of the Commission were very frustrated. Most meetings were 45 minutes or less because there wasn't any money for projects.

Or how about the statement on our garbage bill stating "25% reduction approved by council in FY 2014-15 will continue thru March 2016?" How many of you know that our garbage bills haven't been reduced, but they have been subsidized by city funds?

Have you received your glossy 'The 2015 State of the City Newsletter?' It doesn't include the disclaimer 'Paid Political Advertising by' although it should, because it's nothing more than campaign propaganda by the incumbents. Crafty, to get we the taxpayers to fund the incumbents campaign material! I would recommend viewing the FY 2014-15 budget adjustment meeting earlier this summer as well as the FY 2015-16 budget workshops for a truer picture of how our city is doing.

I understand that the EDC will also be mailing a state of the city newsletter. Talk with any realtor & listen to what they have to say about the length of time it is taking to develop the 110 acres south of Walzem.Very interesting conversation indeed!

By now, a lot of you have received yet another glossy mailer from a PAC supporting the incumbents. "Don't let the same group of people who brought us to the brink of Bankruptcy back in!!!" I've been holding mayors & councils accountable for the 23 years I have lived in Windcrest, but I didn't have any responsibility for any money spent & I haven't run for city council before now.  In fact, I was the first person to report that the developer hired by the city had an 'office' which was a PO box at a UPS Store on Boerne Stage Road. I was one of the loudest voices saying something was wrong in our city as I am doing again.

I encourage all Windcrest citizens to ignore the campaign rhetoric & inform yourself about the true state of our fair city. Unfortunately, it's not all sunshine & lollipops.
